C-17 Pilot Initial Qualification (PIQ) End Of Course Practice Test

The thrust armed and engaged modes are displayed in the upper left corner of the aircraft’s cockpit to provide pilots with a clear and consistent reference for these critical operational statuses. This positioning allows for quick visual checks, ensuring that pilots can easily monitor thrust settings without diverting their focus from other essential flight instruments.

The upper left corner is typically associated with important notification indicators, making it a logical choice for displaying vital control information. The design is intentional to enhance situational awareness, allowing pilots to make quick decisions based on the status of the throttle and trust levels, which are essential for safe operation.

The other locations mentioned do not follow this standard, and pilots are trained to look in the upper left corner specifically for the thrust status indicators, reinforcing the efficient organization of cockpit displays to minimize cognitive workload during critical phases of flight.
